Journal Vision and Mission
MycoAsia (e-ISSN: 2582-7278) is an online, international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to modern mycology. Our vision is to facilitate the global exchange of knowledge and new developments within the mycological research community, with a special focus on the fungal diversity of Asia. We are committed to a fully open-access model, ensuring that all published content is freely and immediately available to readers worldwide, thereby fostering collaboration and accelerating advancements in the field.
Scope of the Journal
MycoAsia publishes original research articles, brief communications, letters, and invited reviews covering a broad range of mycological subjects. Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Fungal diversity, taxonomy, and phylogeny
Discovery, cultivation, characterization, and classification of fungi
Fungal ecology, metabolites, and nomenclature
Research on lichens
Preference is given to studies conducted in the under-explored terrestrial, aquatic, and atmospheric habitats of Asia.
Publication Frequency
MycoAsia operates on a continuous publication model. Accepted and finalized manuscripts are published online promptly throughout the year, ensuring the timely dissemination of new research findings.
Open Access and Publication Fees
This is a Diamond open-access journal. There are no publication fees (also known as Article Processing Charges or APCs) for authors. All articles are made freely available to the public immediately upon publication to remove financial barriers and support the widest possible dissemination of knowledge.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain the full copyright of their work. All articles published in MycoAsia are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the work in any medium, provided the original authors and source are properly credited.
Publication Ethics
MycoAsia is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. Our policies are guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We have explicit procedures for handling conflicts of interest, ensuring editorial independence, and addressing all forms of scientific misconduct. We are actively implementing COPE’s best practices in preparation for a formal membership application.
Archiving and Data Preservation
To ensure the long-term preservation of its scholarly content, MycoAsia is developing a formal digital preservation strategy with a recognized third-party service. Currently, authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit all versions of their published papers in institutional or other public repositories, such as ResearchGate.
Governance and Operations
MycoAsia is published by its Managing Editor from Visakhapatnam, India. The journal is managed by a core team of dedicated mycologists and an international Editorial Board composed of recognized experts in the field.

The journal’s operations are sustained through in-kind resources provided by its core team and voluntary donations from the global mycology community. This funding model allows MycoAsia to remain a free and open platform for both authors and readers.
